Who we are

What we collect
Only what you choose to send us through a form on this website:
- Contact form — your name, email, phone number (optional), topic and message.
- Sell your vehicle — your name, email and/or phone number, where the vehicle is, the vehicle’s details and any photos you upload.
- Find a vehicle and “Looking for one like this?” — your name, email and/or phone number, and the vehicle you’re looking for.
- Valuation certificate — your name, email, phone number (optional) and your vehicle’s details.
If you call, email or WhatsApp us, we receive the details that come with your message. WhatsApp is run by WhatsApp/Meta under its own privacy policy.
How we use it
- To reply to you and help with what you asked about: buying, selling, finding or valuing a vehicle, or parts.
- To let you know when a vehicle you asked us to look out for becomes available.
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for marketing you didn’t ask for. We only share it when needed to help you — for example, with a buyer or seller you’ve asked us to deal with — or when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
For as long as we need it to deal with your request, and after that only as long as the law or a genuine business need requires. You can ask us to delete it sooner.
How we protect it
Messages and requests are stored on our web server and can only be seen by RPM Auto staff who sign in with their own password.
Visitor counts
We count how often each vehicle’s page is viewed and how often its Call, WhatsApp, Email and Share buttons are used, as daily totals per vehicle. These totals don’t include who you are. To avoid counting the same visit twice, your IP address is kept briefly in the server’s memory; it is never saved. The same applies to the limit on how many forms can be sent from one connection, which keeps out spam.
Cookies
- Analytics and marketing cookies — if we use Google Tag Manager (for example for Google Analytics), it only loads after you click Accept in the cookie notice. If you click Decline, or don’t choose, these cookies are not set. Your choice is remembered in your browser, and you can change it at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.
- Sign-in cookie — only for RPM Auto staff using the admin area, to keep them signed in (for up to 7 days). Visitors don’t get it.
The website’s fonts and images come from our own server, not from third parties.
Your rights
Under POPIA you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. Email louis@rpmauto.co.za and we’ll respond as soon as we can. If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
